GLOBALPR's Annual General Meeting in Paris
LBS participated in GLOBALHealthPR’s Annual General Meeting on May 7-8, 2010 in Paris. At the conference, representatives from 11 partner agencies actively exchanged information on the healthcare environment in their country, including the United States, Japan, India, France, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Britain, Mexico and Brazil. Each agency reported on the current digital media landscape for the healthcare industry in their respective country. Partners discussed how social media presents challenges and that digital communications has yet to infiltrate conservative and highly regulated industry sectors, such as pharma or healthcare. Companies face challenges including risk management, and manpower and cost issues associated with the constant upkeep of social media accounts. However, social media is, in fact, acquiring major position in media in each country; now bearing closely on the needs of the general population, not only younger generations. From the viewpoints of corporate communications, enhancing brand image, creating up-to date marketing strategy and pursuing better customer satisfaction, each partner agency has incorporated social media tools in their own businesses not only to enhance their offerings, but also to meet client needs. Another meeting highlight included the examination of industry specific case studies. Ph. Boutie, a urologist, presented a successful disease awareness campaign of prostate cancer. GLOBALHealthPR partners also reported on an educational campaign with The Progeria Research Foundation (PRF), the only non-profit organization solely dedicated to finding treatments and the cure for Progeria, a rare aging disorder. As a part of the “Find the Other 150” campaign, The Progeria Research Foundation and GHPR partners are searching globally for the undiagnosed children with Progeria so that they too can have access to the unique care they need.
